Course Description:
This course, titled “Understanding Lebanon’s Income Tax System,” is structured into three parts, each addressing one of the main areas of Lebanon’s income tax legislation:
- First Door: Tax on Profits
The first section focuses on taxes levied on businesses, corporations, and professionals. Here, you will learn about how to calculate net profits, apply the corporate tax rate, and account for allowable deductions. We will also cover the essential compliance requirements, deadlines, and procedures for filing tax returns. Whether you own a small business or are a professional in your field, this part of the course will give you the tools you need to calculate and manage your tax obligations related to profits. - Second Door: Tax on Salaries and Wages
In the second section, we turn our focus to individual income from employment. Lebanon employs a progressive tax system on salaries and wages, where rates range from 2% to 25%. This part of the course will walk you through how to determine the taxable income for individuals, calculate payroll taxes, and understand employer withholding responsibilities. You will also learn about the exemptions and deductions that can reduce taxable income, ensuring both employees and employers are informed about their obligations and rights. - Third Door: Tax on Capital Income
The third section covers the taxation of income from movable and immovable capital, such as rental income, dividends, and interest. We will discuss how different types of capital income are taxed, the applicable rates, and specific deductions that may apply. This part also covers reporting requirements and the strategic ways in which individuals and businesses can optimize their tax liabilities regarding capital income.
